Letting Go to Shine: How to Close Cycles and Start the Year with Inner Peace

Clear path at dawn with dry leaves flying behind, symbolizing letting go of the past.
Letting go of the old paves the way for a path full of light and possibilities.

The end of a cycle always invites us to reflect on what we have experienced and to ask ourselves: what am I willing to let go of in order to move forward with ease towards the future? Although it is common to make resolutions for the New Year, we often forget to work on the most important aspect: our emotions.

We carry guilt, resentment, fear of change, and this acts as an invisible weight that prevents us from moving forward. Closing cycles is not only in the mind, it is in the emotions. If we do not heal, we continue to drag old wounds.

Why is it important to let go?

Healing emotional wounds not only releases the past, but also empowers your present.

The act of letting go is not simply forgetting what has hurt us or ignoring our emotions. It is about facing them, feeling them and allowing them to flow to free us. Repressed emotions do not disappear, they remain trapped in the subconscious and, if not processed, they influence our daily life in ways we do not even imagine.

This can manifest as repetitive patterns in relationships, anxiety, or even physical discomfort. Ignoring emotions is like plugging a valve in a pressure cooker: sooner or later, that pressure will find a way out.

The AIR Technique: A tool to release emotions

To release emotional blocks that prevent us from moving forward, I use a method that I have developed and successfully applied in my sessions: AIR (Acknowledge, Identify and Release). This process is simple, practical and can be easily integrated into everyday life.

  1. Acknowledge : Take a moment to identify what you are feeling. Is it sadness, anger, fear, or frustration? Naming the emotion is the first step.

  2. Identify : Notice where you feel that emotion in your body. It might be a lump in your throat, pressure in your chest, or tension in your stomach. It might even surprise you and manifest itself in unexpected places, like a knee or your back.

  3. Release : Feel the emotion completely, without analyzing or judging it. Allow yourself to experience that physical sensation. As you do this, you will notice how the emotion begins to dissipate naturally.

How to apply this method in your daily life

The best thing about the AIR Technique is that you can use it in any situation. For example:

  • Before an important event (such as a job interview): Release any fear or anxiety that may be blocking you.

  • During a challenging experience: If you feel angry or frustrated, apply the method right then and there to avoid an impulsive reaction.

  • After a difficult situation: Process any pending emotions to prevent them from building up and weighing you down later.

Letting go does not mean ignoring our emotions, but rather facing them bravely and allowing them to dissipate. Only in this way can we make room for inner peace.

Reflection for the New Year

Inner peace begins when we let go of what weighs us down.

The beginning of a new year is a perfect opportunity to reflect on what we want to leave behind and what we want to attract into our lives. We often forget that peace, happiness and strength are not outside of us, but within. All we need to do is release the emotional blocks that hide them.

When we process our emotions, we free ourselves from the past and make room for a fuller, brighter future.

Peace, happiness and strength are not outside of us; they are within.

Practical tips to start shining this year

  1. Take a few minutes each day to practice the AIR Technique. Start with small emotions to get familiar with the process.

  2. Surround yourself with people and activities that inspire peace and joy.

  3. Reflect on the emotional patterns you repeat and ask yourself: What am I ready to let go of?

  4. Write down your goals not only from what you want to achieve, but from how you want to feel: at peace, free, happy.
